Microsoft Office 2013

Important Note: Microsoft Office 2013 is no longer a download button for this program that will redirect you to the latest version of Office. You can also find the Premium version and create your best work with Office 365.

Known uses, new features

With the new touch-optimized reading mode in Word 2013, you can scroll through documents with the swipe of a finger. Document changes have been significantly revised and expanded to make document editing easier. Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus also edits PDFs without the need for additional software, making it a direct competitor to Adobe Acrobat.

In Excel 2013, the new Flash Fill function automatically fills a range of selected cells. Excel analyzes the entire table, discovers relationships between cells, and suggests a value or text. Excel also makes it easy to create pivot tables and charts by generating suggestions in a similar way. The new Quick Analysis feature in Microsoft Office 2013 lets you preview specific formatting options in the spreadsheet itself.

PowerPoint 2013 splits the presentation mode into two different views for the audience and the presenter. In addition to the presentation itself, you can also see a bulleted list and more details on the presenter’s screen. On tablets, you can switch between slides using finger movements, draw with a pen for a lecture on film, or use a virtual laser pointer.

In every way, Outlook 2013 unifies drop-down menus for meetings, contacts, and tasks. Email in Outlook 2013 is now tablet-friendly and can be viewed, if desired, in a non-optimized list view with larger areas.

Use a touch-optimized and minimalist design a la Windows 8

When you use Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus, you will realize that there have been some changes. The familiar ribbon expands only when needed and is optimized for finger operation on touch screens. In addition to images, you can embed videos via HTML code in Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus. All apps come with new touch-optimized viewing modes.

Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus uses the same minimalist tile design as Windows 8 and everything seems to fit together well. Large, cleanly laid out icons are there for the most important functions, while new templates provide visually appealing spreadsheets and presentations.

Bottom line: an improved all-in-one office suite

Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus comes with many useful features, allowing it to be selectively used on touch screen devices. Unfortunately, the Office Suite is anything but tablet-friendly. Many selection elements and options are too small for untrained fingers.

Other features of Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus, however, are far more compelling: the PDF editor offers vastly improved co-editing capabilities, there’s cloud integration with Skydrive, and add-ons like YouTube video embedding are excellent innovations.
