In the near future the film will follow Teresa (Brbara Colen), who arrives at her house in Bacurau, a semi-arid village in Brazil, to attend her grandmother’s funeral. When Teresa got there, she immediately saw signs that Bacurau was in a difficult situation. Basic equipment is scarce, cell phone coverage is dwindling, the supply of clean water does not move and trucks with drinking water arrive full of bullet holes. It quickly became clear that the corrupt government had completely abandoned the people: not only was the Bacurau map literally erased, but its citizens were attacked. As those in charge approach, the villagers must play regular games to avoid further damage.
